QOTD: ‘Home Going’ – Yaa Gyasi

How ironic is that staying ‘free’ always comes with a price. Someone somewhere in this world must be going through unimaginable fighting for freedom. We saw it all over the news this week in Kabul, Afghanistan. It was heartbreaking to see people trying to latch on to moving planes while trying to escape Afghanistan. We saw this in 2020 when in the United States because the Black people were subjected to so much racial discrimination. and Sri Lanka, the country I live in was under war for three decades. I cannot imagine the sacrifices some people in this country have made to get out of it alive. Today, we all are trying to break free from the Covid-19 to breathe without masks, to find vaccinations, and prevent people from dying. All these have come with the price tag of actual human lives. My heart goes to everyone who endured and is still enduring.
